Sunrise Series

Last night I unloaded the kiln. Here are three items I liked. This morning I finished loading up the boxes of pottery I am taking to the Chantilly, VA Craftsmen Classic. My Mom & I leave on Saturday and will spend a few days visiting Washington DC before the show. After the show we will be driving the North & South Carolina Coast. There will probably not be any posts again until I get back to making pottery in mid April.

2D-3D Exhibition

My Mom will be visiting for a few months. She will be helping me with my Spring Shows and if I don't scare her off, she plans on coming back in the fall to help again. Last night we went to the Opening Reception for the 2D-3D Exhibition at Mint Hill Arts. I entered 4 pieces in the Fiesta line and 4 pieces in the Sunrise line. We purchased 6 raffle tickets to win some pottery donated by members of Mint Hill Arts, but alas it became a donation to the new clay studio, since I did not win a piece. I had donated a cream & sugar set to the drawing. The show runs until April 2nd, so stop by if you are in the area. Today I started a bisque load and will glaze tomorrow. On Monday I will have the load out and can finish my packing for the show. We will leave sometime after Friday depending on the weather.

2010 NC Potters Conference

This past weekend was the 2010 NC Potters Conference. These are the 5 pots I had on display in the gallery. There were so many great ideas presented that I don't even know where to start. Below in the photo you will see two bowls that I tried a couple of the techniques on. The next few weeks I will be trying a number of the things I learned. Also, last week I got an order for some votive holders. The local hospice will be giving them to the volunteers that have served with them for 10 years as a thank you gift.

Platters

Yesterday I made some platters and brie bakers. The photo above is of my favorite platters. The one on the left I added some texture. I like the handles and swirl in the middle on the right platter. Finished the pieces today because with the snow melting off it was very humid and didn't dry well. I didn't start anything new today because tomorrow I head off to the NC Potters Conference. Looking forward to learning some new techniques. Look for some photos next week of my attemps to make what I have learned.

Square Cups

Here is a photo of the square cups I made after the McKenzie Smith workshop. It was fun to do but there is alot of work that goes into making them. The last few days I have been glazing and I finished my tall vases. The photo is on the right/top of the page. The back two vases are new and the blue vase I made in December. This morning I made 18 bowls & loaded the kiln again. Tomorrow I am going to be gallery sitting at Mint Hill Arts. The pieces for the March exhibition will be turned in then.
